"Fantastic"
Went to the Chequers with friends for pre-Christmas meal - fantastic food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. What else can you ask for?

Went for a sunday roast with my husband and the food was just great! I had to have the beef: the yorkshires were great, and there was a wonderful selection of fresh veg to accompany too. And, i would concur with other readers, that the sticky toffee pudding was the best i have ever had!

I enjoyed two special experiences at The Chequers, over one weekend, dinner and lunch, with three friends. I was visiting from South Africa and was really impresssed with the variety and content of the menu.
The food we had, on both days, including starters, main and dessert, was different, well presented and a great variety of taste sensations. The dishes were well priced, as was the wine, with friendly efficient service.

We had a great time thanks, and the staff looked after us really well. Our friends had heard of The Chequers but had not been for a couple of years. All thought the food was fantastic and said they would be back! No better recommendation.
I was a bit concerned that we didn't leave until nearly 4pm and even if the staff were a bit miffed it didn't show. Please pass my thanks to them and to your chef. Great job,

A friend of mine suggested The Chequers as a nice place to eat as I am staying in Oxford for work. I have tried numberous resturants and I have yet to find another in Oxford which has both Excellent Food and Excellent Service together. To prove the point I first dined at The Chequers in July 2011, I have returned every week and will continue to do so for as long as I am working in Oxford.
The Chef is very talented all the dishes served were well balanced and beautifully presented. The staff are very attentive, assuring you do not want for anything.
Main courses start at around £13.00 going up to £20.00 with a few good staples like Pork Belly, and the best fish & chips I've eaten in a resturant. Each week the menu changes slightly to accomodate the produce available locally. Whilst you can find places to eat for £7.99 for a main course, you do not get the quality Steve provides or the service his wonderful staff provide. This is an excellent choice for any day of the week.
My final note is on the well kept Real Ale, which I have been informed by my colleagues is very nice.
If you get the chance I highly recommend giving The Chequers a try. You won't be disapointed.

I have been to the Chequers at Burcot - probably around 4 times in the last year and every time I have been the food has been fabulous and the service excellent.
I have eaten there both on a Sunday lunchtime which was very busy and an evening which was a little quieter and both times the service was excellent both effecient and friendly - I have to admit I had the same main course the last three times I have been there - the belly pork is fabulous.
Oh and the cocktail menu def worth a try !!!

We visited the Cheques for my father's birthday in early December. The pub was busy and we had to wait for menus before we could order, which was a little annoying (print a few more!!!). After a slow start service-wise I can only congratulate the team for a wonderful Sunday lunch. Our meals were great. The meat (roast beef) was tender and delicious, very well prepared, tasty vegetables, real horseradish sauce (fiery, just the way I like it) and a most heavenly sticky toffee pudding. I look forward to my next Sunday lunch at the Chequers.

Have visited on a couple of occasions, the Sunday lunch was fabulous, home made horseradish sauce to die for. Beef so succulent and tender and veg cooked perfectly.
The sticky toffee pud was the best I've ever had. Bringing foodie friends on our next visit.

We have just returned home after a fantastic weekend at Dinkley Court, what a lovely cottage, perfect for our party.
